Movie Conventions- The Meg

Image
Hye lovelies!  I will be doing a research analysis on "The Meg". This is a movie about a prehistoric creature found by a group of researchers that is very deadly and hostile. Starting off, in many scenes the lighting will be red to represent danger. Red is commonly known as a darker lighting, this color conserves power under emergency. The lighting will also flash which results in a feeling of panic for the viewer. The film features a lot of over the shoulder shots. Most of the over the shots are from the shark itself and or the researchers struggling to figure out how to get out of the situations they are put in. The over the shoulder shots give a rough perspective to what the person is doing in front of them or what they are looking at.  There are many motion tracking shots showing where the shark is going. The high speeds the shark is going with the motion tracking create anxiety for the viewer. The viewer can see that the shark is getting closer to where the characters a

Movie Conventions- Saw X

Image
Hey lovelies!  I will be doing a research analysis on "Saw X". This is the last movie of the saw series which is known for its horrific special effects that leaves the viewer feeling squeamish. Starting off, the lighting in multiple parts of this movie is dim and tinted yellow or blue. The tinted lighting gives a rustic edgy feeling to the horror movies leaving a eerie visual for the watcher. The movie uses action matching to show the mastermind behind the movie planning his machines on a blank sheet of paper with a pencil. Action matching helps to highlight important scenes in the movie. In this scene we are seeing how John Kramer plans his machines. Throughout the movie we get to see different unique props and puzzles used, most of them being metal and rustic looking, These puzzles connect to the special effects in the movie and go hand in hand with the gore, horror aspect. The machines being shown while the person acts in panic and hysteria adds an eerie anticipation for

Movie Conventions- The Black Phone

Image
Hi lovelies! The movie I chose is called the Black Phone. It is a horror film that is known to have moments in which the audience feel themselves at the edge of their seats. The elements that fit with my final task are things such as the lighting, editing, acting, and so on. Both film are made to highlight the resiliency of youth, it is a serial killer horror film that also fits with my film in ways that it has a scary sense of realism. The movie also has a designated color palate and aesthetic. These key factors will also take place within my film, my color palate will match within characters and the aesthetic with me the eerie atmosphere of a tragedy with a nasty secret, hidden with privilege. The film uses moments of cross fading which will also be used within my film. The also use a fast pace will I well be using in the film near the middle. Along with the main villain in the Black Phone my character, will also have a unsettling spilt-like instability. The movie has many elements

Genre Pick!!

Image
The genre I will be choosing for my film is horror. This genre goes best with my pitch, also its intriguing to me to create interesting visuals through special effects and lighting. I also would prefer to do horror over thriller and romance. We had already created a romance film and thriller seemed to need more of a lead up to properly execute. I have indulged in many horror films myself so this genre would be very fun to execute especially with the settings and actors we have available. I am very excited to start making my opening sequence.

Generic Genre Research Horror

Horror, the genre meant to disturb, frighten, and scare the viewer yet create an enticing storyline. Horror will have you covering your eyes from the screen yet peaking from the cracks of your fingers to see what happens next. The camera angles, movement, and shots used in this genre that help create the feelings of anxiety include the dutch angle. The dutch angle tilts the camera to give the viewers a distorted and uneasy feeling, it contrasts from the rest of the movie which would be in a normal view and usually happens when a character has an uneasy revelation or before something bad is about to happen. Horror movies will often have point of view shots to show the point of view of the killer or victim showing a main point of the film or if they walk into a setting they will have a point of view shot to show what the main character is seeing and why they react differently in the next scene. This genre will also use tracking shots to track movement of running or crucial actions thro

Generic Genre Research Thriller

Thriller. The genre of the bone chilling and unexpected. The genre that keeps you on your feet. The camera angles, movement, shots used in this genre of movies that make it what it is are high angled/birds eye view are used in these films to to give the effect being looked down on, appearing to have a powerless and vulnerable look. Close-up shots are also used to show what the characters reactions are to whatever is happening in the film and how they are feeling at that moment, it is also used to capture detail closely in a scene that is important in the film. Tracking shots are used to  make it look like one of the characters is being followed or being watched. It also helps the audience to have a full view of the scene and what is happening, but also helps to build suspense and tension as the audience does not know what could be shown next. Tilted angles are added to  add dramatic tension to the scene, and sometimes signify a supernatural beings pushing or moving the camera. It is al

Generic Genre Research Romance

The genre of romance. It is known to be filled with happy and bubbly feelings with a predictable end of some sort along with a tad bit of teary moments. It is a genre that touches the audiences sentimental side fast and had storylines that make hearts melt. The camera angles, movement, shots used in this genre of movies that make it what it is are its establishing shots, it always tends to be a relatable scene that sticks to the audience hard, s hots like this allow the audience to get a feel of the ambiance and the characters emotions. Other types of angles, shots, and movement that are key to romance movies are 2 shots, t his shot obtains two people and clearly shows how they feel. Then we have medium shots that are used to t hese are used in romantic comedies to show the characters body language and facial expressions. This can determine how the characters act around each other. and lastly the most used and needed are the close ups. These close ups signify the characters emotions,

Our Pitch Blog

Pitch A: Teen girl visits ice cream shop, we later discover her gruesome secret. Pitch B: Mostly fatal car accident leads surviving teen feeling paranoid, seeing teens other couldn't. Discuss Pitch A: Pitch A would have a horror aspect to it. I'm interested in doing this pitch as it gives me more creative freedom and better suspense for the storyline. It helps me make a pretty solid idea of what context and details I want to add for my perfect full storyline. I also have better experience and more knowledge on this type of a story line as I have watch and consumed a lot of these types of content therefore I am aware of how to produce and make a creation out of a pitch like this. It will also be fun to work with costume and special effects to make our vision come to light and it won't be too expensive. We was also able to already secure a cast and setting for this pitch through some connections therefore the production is one step easier. However, most of our outside scenes

I am back for another go!

Image
Hey lovies! I am back and this time with a new project. This time it will be the beginning of my own movie! How exciting! I have been going alright and life has been good. I am ready to get into this project as it will be a bigger creative outlet for me and I get to do so much more. I will once again be acting. I have a lot of inspiration with the ideas I've come up with through some of my favorite movies of the same genre. The genre being horror, it is a big difference from my other project. I am ready to experiment in many ways. I am excited to implement fashion, beauty and music into this assignment. Those factors are very important cause they give the base of the character and the storyline. I personally love making these stories as they give me so much freedom to explore my mind and imagination. Through books and movies and being exposed to multiple genres from a young age. I am ready to showcase a storyline of my own through this knowledge. The idea I had comes from a very c

Movie Intro Era!!

H i lovies! Today I will be telling you guys the details for film. I will be working with someone. The person I decided to partner up with is my close friend Jordan. We are able to be flexible with each others schedule, are able give each other respect, creative freedom. But at the same time make everything equal, honest and understanding. Jordan is a reliable partner with a healthy work ethic.  Me and her consume the same media which can help us align our ideas well with creating a video. I'm very excited to work with her. We have interest in a lot of the same media and movies so I think this project will be something we are both proud of. Also when talking about ideas we thought of the same genre.  Planning projects with her is so much fun because our ideas align and add onto each others well. We have a few horror ideas for this and fun font ideas already. We know the same people so finding actors is going to be easy as well as location.  We also have similar interests and ide
